Beyond Ugly is a follow up from my first blog ugly.
Despite her mother's constant physical and psychological abuse, Constance Briscoe has gained a place at Newcastle University to study law - a long-held ambition. She finances her studies by several jobs at weekends and during the holidays, including working with the terminally ill in a hospice. She also finds the money to pay for several cosmetic surgery treatments in an attempt to transform the face that her mother has convinced her is ugly, ugly, ugly. With the degree achieved, Constance takes up Michael Mansfield's invitation to become a pupil in his prestigious chambers. But she didn't find the support and encouragement she expected.
Beyond Ugly was not as amazing as i expected it to be my expextations of the book was very high becasue of me reading ugly i thought that it would be much much better so that is why i give it a star rating of 4.

Double Cross By Malorie Blackman
Just this once...Please let me get away with it just this once...
Tobey wants a better life - for him and his girlfriend Callie Rose. He wants nothing to do with the gangs that rule the world that he lives in. But when he offered the chance to earn some money just for making a few 'deliveries', just this once, would it hurt to say 'yes'?
ONE SMALL DECISION CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING...
I chose Double Cross because its explosively page-turning and dramatic just like in the Noughts & Crosses sequence, and that is why i give Double Cross a star rating of 5!!!!

An eye for an eye By Marlorie Blackman
Malorie Blackman wrote this book in 2003 as a World book Day Special Edition. The story timeline occurs after Noughts & Crosses but before Knife Edge.
Can two wrongs ever make a right?
Sephy is a cross (white) - the daughter of a top politician and a member of the ruling class.
She is also six months pregnant.
But Sephy's baby will be a mixed-race child, its father a nought (black) - in a world where the two classes are divided by colour and never treated as equals. even worse the baby's father, Callum, is dead.
And now Sephy - and her sister Minerva - must face a violent confrontation with Callum's brother, Jude, who is thirsting for revenge. All because Jude reckons that Sephy was responsible for Callum's DEATH...
I give this book a star rating of 5 because it is a really good read and it really captures me, it is very intersting also it teaches me a bit of history all in one go. (if you would like to borrow it tell me and i can give to you on a loan.)

My Sister Jodie By Jacqueline Wilson
Pearl and Jodie are sisters. Pearl is the quiet, cautious, studious one. Jodie is bold and brash and bad - but Pearl adores her sister . . . no matter what trouble she gets up to . . .
When their parents get new jobs as the cook and caretaker at a fusty old boarding school, the girls have to move there and spend their summer holidays in the school with just a few children and staff for company. And when they arrive, things start to change. Jodie has always been the leader - but now it's Pearl who's making new friends, like the amazingly tall, badger-watching Harley and Mrs Wilberforce, the wife of the Head who's confined to a wheelchair but introduces Pearl to wonderful new books. Jodie just seems to be getting into more and more trouble – arguing with Mum, scaring the little children, flirting with the gardener . . .
When term begins, their strange summer is over. But things keep on changing. Jodie really doesn't fit in with the posh teenagers at the school. But Pearl is doing well in lessons and has even more friends. Maybe she doesn't need Jodie as much as she used to. But Jodie needs her. And when the school celebrations of Firework Night come around and a tragic event occurs, Pearl realises quite how much she does need her big sister .

Kiss By Jacqueline wilson
Sylvie and Carl have been friends since they were tiny children. Sylvie never thought that things would change. And she never thought they would change the way they did . . .
Sylvie and Carl always played together, eaten with each other's families, called each other boyfriend and girlfriend and deep down, Sylvie has always believed that they'd end up married to each other. They even have a magical fantasy world that belongs to them alone – and the glass hut where it's all created, at the bottom of Carl's garden.
But as they become teenagers, things are starting to change. They each have different friends. Sylvie would still rather spend all her time with Carl. But Carl has a new friend, Paul, who is taking all his attention. And he seems much less happy to be called Sylvie's boyfriend. And in a game of spin the bottle, he avoids having to kiss her. Sylvie can tell his feelings have changed and that her plans for the future may be affected. But can she guess at the true reasons behind it all?

Love Lessons By Jacqueline Wilson
Fourteen-year-old Prue (prudence) and her sister Grace have been educated at home by their controlling, super-strict father all their lives. They know they are different to 'normal' girls but their attempts to find out what being an ordinary teenager are like – buying nice clothes instead of wearing Mum's odd hand-made garments, reading teenage magazines etc – are greeted with fury by their Dad. But when Dad has a stroke and ends up in hospital, unable to move or speak, Prue suddenly discovers what it's like to have a little freedom.
Unable to cope with their education and a sick husband, the girls' mother sends them to the local comprehensive and they experience school life for the first time. Prue had never thought it would be so bitchy and that she'd find it so hard to fit in. The only person she can talk to is her kindly, young, handsome Art teacher, Rax. She and Rax bond over art lessons, and soon he asks to babysit for his young children while he and his wife have a night out on a Friday. This becomes a regular 'date' and Prue can't wait for the ten minutes they have along together as he drives her home. As her feelings for Rax develop, she begins to realise that perhaps he feels the same way about her. But he can't act upon them, can he?
